Our Story & Wines

A vineyard with the magic of stardust sprinkled about is surely like no other.

Serendipity has no timetable. It happens, or it doesn’t. But once in a very great while, the stars and planets align perfectly, and in just that moment, magic happens.

And so it was when Michael Dellar, a restaurateur whose restaurants have earned Michelin Stars and James Beard Awards, and Mort Friedkin, a real estate developer of extraordinary properties, climbed a hill on Soda Canyon Road in Napa Valley after a 20-year vineyard quest. They immediately understood the possibilities.

Stardust is the magic in the grapes, the soil, the climate, and the very being of the dreamers who create our celestial Stardust wines.

2016 Cabernet Sauvignon (100%)

Harvest: October 12
Alcohol: 15.2%
Barrel Aging: 27 months in 60% new French Oak and 40% neutral French Oak
Cellar Aging:  30 additional months before release.
Cases: 100 cases total, bottles and magnums

Winery Notes: 2016 presented a little below average rainfall and a fairly even growing season with occasional heat spikes. Yields are always low (below three tons per acre) and this vintage was no exception. Deep ruby color with aromas of cassis and cherry with a skosh of wild thyme and cloves, and flavors of black cherry and dark berries. Tannins are present which balance the supple mouth-filling richness to add complexity and strength.

Price: $100/bottle (1, 3, 6, 12 pack), $225/magnum

2015 Cabernet Sauvignon (100%)

Harvest: October 12
Alcohol: 15.4%
Barrel Aging: 24 months in 75% new French Oak and 25% neutral French Oak
Cellar Aging: 24 additional months before release
Cases: 100 cases total, bottles and magnums

Winery Notes: A warm winter (so what else is new?) resulted in an early bud break followed by a wet spring and back to a warm summer. The small crop yielded a concentrated wine, deep garnet in color with a spice box nose of cinnamon and cloves, and deep black cherry and black currant flavors. A long persistent finish lingers on the palette thanks to two extra years of cellar-aging.
